International Yoga Day 2017 mega event to be held in Lucknow, PM Modi, UP CM Yogi to participate

The third International Yoga Day would be held at Lucknow on tomorrow, June 21 at the sprawling Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan.

Modi will be flanked by governor Ram Naik and chief minister Yogi Adityanath. In attendance will be ministers from the Yogi government, 51,000 people, including students of several schools, paramilitary personnel, government officials and volunteers.

Mr. Adityanath took to social media to promote the event. The PM will be in Lucknow for two days, starting Tuesday.

Shri Narendra Modi will arrive at Amausi airport, Lucknow, on June 20, at around 4:30pm. On the first day of his visit, Mr. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate a new building of the CDRI and also the new campus of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. After the official programme, the PM will visit 5, Kalidas Marg, the official residence of the UP CM, for dinner. The meeting with Mr. Adityanath assumes significance as it comes at a time when the BJP government in U.P. is nearing its 100-day celebration.

Mr. Modi will stay overnight at the Raj Bhavan.

 On Wednesday, June 21, Mr. Modi will attend the third International Yoga Day at the sprawling Ramabai Ambedkar ground here. The session is scheduled to start at 6.30 a.m. and is expected to close just before 8 a.m. The participants, however, are expected to reach the site much before the scheduled start. The entry gate opens after 2 a.m.

Security Arrangements

Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for the event. Ten companies of central paramilitary forces, 25 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary, two teams of the Anti-terrorist squad and hundreds of police personnel will be deployed in and around the venue to prevent any untoward incident. Till the PM remains at the venue, it will be a no-fly zone.
