The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has announced a statewide bandh in Bihar on September 4, 2025. The bandh will be observed from 7 AM to 12 noon and will be spearheaded by the BJP Mahila Morcha, the womens wing of the party. The protest is being organised in response to alleged derogatory remarks made about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a recent opposition rally in Darbhanga.

Bihar Band Tomorrow: Emergency Services to Remain Unaffected Despite the shutdown, NDA leaders have assured that essential services will not be disrupted. Emergency medical services, including ambulances and hospitals, will continue to function as normal. Additionally, railway operations and other critical infrastructure are expected to remain operational during the five-hour bandh.

This announcement is intended to ensure that the general public does not face unnecessary hardships while the political protest is underway. The NDA clarified that the bandh is symbolic and peaceful in nature, aiming to express moral outrage rather than cause public disorder. Why the Bandh Was Called The bandh has been called in response to an incident that occurred during the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga, where Congress workers allegedly made abusive comments about Prime Minister Modi and his late mother. A video of the incident went viral, triggering widespread condemnation from NDA leaders.

Senior JD(U) leader Umesh Kushwaha condemned the remarks and criticised the opposition for failing to issue an apology. Using such language is both morally and politically wrong, Kushwaha stated. He emphasized that such conduct not only disrespected the Prime Minister but also insulted mothers across the country.

Womens Wing to Lead the Protest In a notable move, the protest will be led by the BJPs womens wing, making it one of the most high-profile demonstrations by women in Bihar in recent times. According to NDA leaders, this is a symbolic gesture in defence of mothers and women, whose dignity they say was insulted by the oppositions remarks.
