Bihar is all set to head to the polls. Ahead of the 2025 assembly elections, Bihar also became the first state in India to conduct the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to update its voter lists. While the SIR exercise drew criticism from the opposition, the Election Commission stated it carried out its duties in a transparent manner.
The two key alliances for the Bihar polls is the NDA alliance and the Mahagatbandhan. In NDA, the BJP will be fighting the Bihar elections with Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
Meanwhile, Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD),and left-wing parties such as Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation -CPIML (Liberation) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) comprise of the Mahagathbandhan alliance.
