Investigation handed over to NIA: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday transferred the probe into the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). This indicates that the explosion, which has so far claimed 12 lives, is being treated as a suspected act of terror, as the NIA exclusively handles terrorism-related cases.

Radicalisation link found: Sources said the probe has revealed that Maulvi Irfan, a former paramedical staffer at GMC Srinagar and ex-Imam, played a key role in radicalising medical students. All three suspects are believed to have ideological ties to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), forming the core of the Faridabad-Delhi module.
Blast car details: The i20 car used in the blast was purchased by a new owner on October 29, and its pollution under control (PUC) certificate was updated on the same day.
Blast impact: According to official sources quoted by India Today, one of the two additional victims in the latest toll was found hanging from a tree — the impact of the explosion had reportedly thrown the body off the ground.
Delhi CM’s statement: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called the incident “unfortunate” and said, “All the agencies are doing their work. We visited the hospital yesterday and met the injured. The government stands with them, and their families should not face any problems.”
Updated toll: Sources said the death toll has risen to 12, with 25 injured currently being treated at LNJP Hospital.
