Kantara Chapter 1 continues its dream run at the box office. The film released in theatres along with Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari on October 2 and it has dominated over the box office and how. It has remained steady over the last few days in theatres. While at the domestic box office, it crossed Rs 300 crore in a weeks time, it has broken several records even at the worldwide box office.
The film starring Rishab Shetty, also directed by him saw a remarkable surge in collections during its second weekend. There was an impressive jump of 66% jump in domestic earnings on Saturday. It made Rs 38 crore in India on Saturday according to Sacnilk, leading to a stellar second Saturday worldwide and solidifying its path toward an all-time blockbuster finish.
On Friday, Hombale Films announced that the period action drama had grossed ₹509 crore worldwide in its opening week. Based on that trajectory, the film’s total after 10 days stands around ₹590 crore globally. However, trade analysts in India estimate the figure to be slightly lower, at approximately ₹560 crore, according to Hindustan Times.
Regardless of the variance, Kantara Chapter 1 has officially entered the list of the top 25 highest-grossing Indian films ever, surpassing Tiger Zinda Hai and Dhoom 3 (both ₹558 crore).
If the higher estimate of ₹590 crore holds true, the film has also overtaken major hits like Saiyaara (₹570 crore), Padmaavat (₹585 crore), and Sanju (₹589 crore), further cementing its place among the biggest Indian box office successes of all time.
