Robert Pattinson responds to Twilight critics: How can you be sad about something from 20 years ago?

Robert Pattinson who is known for his beloved role as Edward Cullen the charming vampire in the Vampire series recently addressed the long-standing criticism that the Twilight franchise damaged the vampire genre.

In an interview with GQ Spain, Pattinson expressed his disbelief at fans who continue to lament the impact of the series, which debuted in 2008. He remarked on how strange it is that people are still upset about something that happened nearly 20 years ago, questioning why they remain fixated on the issue.

He said, I love that people keep telling me, Man, Twilight ruined the vampire genre. Are you still stuck on that? How can you be sad about something that happened almost 20 years ago? Its crazy.

Pattinson, who gained international fame for his role as Edward Cullen in Twilight, acknowledged the divisive nature of the films. While some viewers criticize them, he believes that many of those who dislike the series often havent actually watched it. He humorously pointed out that he himself can be judgmental and cynical, but he appreciates how Twilight has become a cultural phenomenon over the years.

He also spoke about his experience filming the first Twilight movie, Pattinson shared that he initially approached the role with a serious mindset, hoping to make it as artistic as possible. However, he was advised by his team to lighten up, which helped him enjoy the process more.

Despite the mixed reactions to Twilight, Pattinson recognizes its lasting impact on pop culture and its role in launching his career.

The 38-year-old has now shaped a new image for himself playing Batman, which was highly praised by the fans and audience which was released in 2022. He is now working on upcoming projects like Mickey 17 and The Batman Part II.
