Nagpur: Ajit Pawars ashes reached Nagpur on Tuesday, drawing leaders, party workers, and citizens from across the political and social spectrum to pay tribute to the veteran public leader.

An all-party viewing ceremony was held at the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) city office in Ganeshpeth, reflecting the wide respect Pawar commanded beyond party lines.

The former deputy chief minister died in a plane crash in Baramati on January 28. His ashes were placed in multiple kalash and sent to different parts of Maharashtra for public homage. The ashes brought to Nagpur were immersed at the sacred confluence in Ambhora at around 3.30 pm amid religious rites, marking a solemn farewell to the leader.

NCP city president Anil Ahirkar, rural president Rajabhau Taksale, and senior leader Shrikant Shivankar said Pawars demise left an irreparable void in Maharashtras political life. Ajitdada consistently placed development and the welfare of the common people at the centre of his political journey. His contribution to the state will be remembered for decades, they said.

Following the viewing ceremony, a procession carrying the ashes departed from NCP office at 2 pm and passed through major roads of the city. Supporters lined up along the route to pay their respects as slogans and tributes echoed along the way.

NCP leaders said arrangements were made in coordination with the administration to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme and crowd management. The party thanked citizens and leaders from across sections for participating in the homage.

The NCP party workers in Nagpur said Pawar would be remembered as a mass leader known for his accessibility, administrative experience, and unwavering commitment to public service.
