Lucknow: After the draft electoral rolls for UP were released on Monday by the Election Commission, and 2.89 crore names of voters were deleted in the state, BSP state president Vishwanath Pal said that the party on Tuesday itself launched a month-long campaign to help voters include their names in the voters list. This was as soon as the draft voter list came. Our campaign will continue till Feb 6, he said.
We will help people who got their names deleted, and also the new voters, fill Form 6 to get themselves registered as voters, said Pal.
As far as deletion of voters names from the list is concerned, he said that it is not for him but the party national president, Mayawati, to comment on that.
BSP already had its booth level agents (BLAs) helping voters to get themselves verified under the special intensive revision (SIR) process after Mayawati asked her partymen to do so in the review meetings of the party held in Nov. The party BLAs worked in coordination with the booth level officers (BLOs), and each BLA was assigned two booths to check in a day.
The campaign continued for over a month, in which party workers working at the booth level were also required to send their pictures as proof of them working at the spot.
