Former Home Minister and erstwhile Speaker of the Lok Sabha Shivraj Patil passed away earlier today (December 12, 2025) at the age of 90. The Lok Sabha honoured his memory and adjourned till 12. Both Houses of Parliament also honoured the martyrs in the attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001.

The discussion on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision is expected to continue in the Rajya Sabha today.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted in the Lok Sabha that the Centre would ‘detect, delete and deport’ every illegal immigrant from India. Replying to Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi’s accusations of vote theft, Mr. Shah accused him of trying to spread falsehoods through his claims of “vote chori (theft)”, adding that “some families” were “generational vote chors (thieves)”. He also accused Opposition parties of objecting to the SIR because they want to keep “infiltrators” in the electoral rolls.

Rajya Sabha on Thursday (December 11, 2025) took up discussion on electoral reforms a day after it concluded in Lok Sabha. The issue of air pollution in Delhi figured in both Houses of Parliament.

Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, MP Manickam Tagore said, “Delhi is breathing toxic acidic gas. Children are missing school, workers cannot stand outdoors, and hospitals are overflowing with respiratory and cardiac cases. People are not suffering; they are choking. What is the government’s response?”
