Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the Congress govt was giving top priority to healthcare and called upon doctors to actively support the state by offering suggestions and feedback to improve health policies.

Addressing the Fellows India-2026 conference of cardiologists at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, he said the govt was open to working closely with doctors in the larger public interest and urged them to share their inputs.

Referring to rapid advances in knowledge and technology, Revanth said quantum computing and artificial intelligence were transforming healthcare into a high-tech field. He stressed that while doctors must stay updated with the latest technology, they should also retain the human touch in patient care.

Key role in society

Observing that not everyone could qualify to become a doctor, he described doctors as a special group in society, noting that people entrusted their lives to them. He urged them not to forget their responsibility towards society and humanity.

The chief minister expressed concern over the growing number of deaths due to heart disease and called for a focused mission to prevent cardiac ailments. He said the govt and doctors must work together to save lives, citing volunteer initiatives such as teaching CPR to school students as simple yet effective measures.

He added that preventive medicine was often neglected and said public education could significantly improve health outcomes. He urged doctors to raise the quality of healthcare and said the state must strive to be among the best in the world.

‘I am a social doctor

Saying he was not a doctor, yet a doctor, Revanth described himself as a ‘social doctor responsible for addressing social diseases. He welcomed the hosting of the Fellows India Conference in Hyderabad, with over 500 cardiologists from across India and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries participating.

He added that Hyderabad was rapidly emerging as a hub of excellence in life sciences, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
