Andhra Pradesh woman alleges Jana Sena MLA Arava Sridhar sexually exploited her; claims threats, forced abortion

TIRUPATI: A woman has levelled sexual exploitation allegations against Jana Sena legislator Arava Sridhar, claiming that he exploited and cheated her. The allegation, made through a selfie video, was released on social media on Tuesday, creating a stir in political circles. Sridhar represents Railway Koduru assembly constituency in the state. The MLA is yet to react to the allegations.

In the video, the woman alleged that Sridhar has been threatening her for over a year under the pretext of helping her secure a job. She claimed that during this period he repeatedly subjected her to physical exploitation. She further alleged that she became pregnant and was later forced to undergo abortion against her will.

I approached the MLA seeking help for employment. Instead, he used the situation to threaten and pressurise me, and demanded that I divorce my husband, who works in the IT sector, she alleged in the video. She further claimed that the MLA pressurised her to marry him and, when she refused, he contacted her husband and issued threats. The MLAs actions led to serious differences with her husband, she said.

She further alleged that when she confronted the MLA, he insisted that she divorce her husband, warning her she had to obey him as he was an MLA.
